CT Communications is proud to announce the
availability of our Internet Security Software
Suite created by Zone Labs. This software
product is being made available FREE to CT
Internet customers and will cover several
different areas of Internet security.
Some new protection features in ZoneAlarm V6.5
products will not run on Windows 98/ Windows ME
series OS due to technical limitations of these
operating systems. In order to take
advantage of the features available in V6.5
ZoneAlarm products, Zone Labs strongly
recommends upgrading to a supported version of
the Windows Operating System. Upgrading
will also reduce the risk of your system
being impacted by security vulnerabilities in
the unsupported Windows 98/ Windows ME series
operating systems.
To download and install this software,
print and follow these instructions:
1. Use your mouse and go to Your Account in the
upper right hand corner of this screen. Click
on Settings.
2. Enter your ctcn username and password and
click the "Login" button.
3. Click the link on the left side of the
screen that says: "Security Suite." Scroll down
to the bottom of this page until you see a
button that says "Download." Click the
"Download" button and you will be given a
license key. ***Important*** Write this license
key down.
4. Click the link on this page that says "Click
Here." You will see a Security Warning asking
whether you want to save the file or run it.
Select "Save" and download the file to your
desktop. Once the download is complete, double
click the file that was saved on your desktop.
5. Click "Next" when ZoneAlarm Security Suite
Installation box pops up.
6. The installation process will automatically
prompt you to register your copy of ZoneAlarm
Internet Security Suite. Registration is
necessary to keep your software up-to-date,
which will protect you from the latest threats.
Fill in the "Name" and "E-mail address" fields
and put a check in the box at the bottom that
says, "I want to register ZoneAlarm Security
Suite so I can download updates." Then click
"Next."
7. Put a check in the box that says "I accept
the terms of the preceding license agreement,"
and then click the button that says "Install."
The program will now install itself on to your
computer. Answer the questions on the user
survey and then click the button that says
"Finish."
8. You will now see a dialog box asking if you
would like to start ZoneAlarm, click the button
that says "Yes." You will now see the License
Wizard, at the bottom of this dialog box click
the link that says "Click here to insert your
license key." Type the license you were given
in step 3 in the appropriate area and then
click "Finish". You should get a message
telling you "Your license key was successfully
installed." Now click "OK" to clear that
message.
9. You should now see the ZoneAlarm
Configuration Wizard. Click "Next" to start the
wizard. You can choose whether or not to
participate in the DefenseNet program and click
the "Next" button. Select the "Automatic"
setting for the Smart Defense Advisor and click
"Next". Click "Next" on the following screen to
accept the default virus and spyware
protection. Select either "yes" or "no" to have
ZoneAlarm filter junk mail from your Outlook or
Outlook Express client and click the "Next"
button. Select "yes" or "no" to turn on Instant
Messaging Security and then click the "Next"
button. Review the privacy settings and decide
whether you would like to use Privacy Control
and Cache Cleaner and then click "Next". Now
click the "Done" button to finish configuring
the program.
10. You've now finished configuring your new
Security Suite. If you have another firewall or
anti-virus program installed, you will receive
a message asking you to uninstall those
programs before using ZoneAlarm. You will now
receive a message asking you to reboot your
computer. After rebooting your computer,
ZoneAlarm should automatically begin protecting
your computer.
